Drawbar trailers have a steerable front axle and one ore two live rear axles. What, however, is the advantage of this construction in comparison with the more common trailers equipped with one or two live axles in the middle?

The way the axles are mounted -one at the very front and the other(s) at the rear end of the trailer - guarantees maximum stability. Consequently, we offer our DSH models up to a maximum internal length of 8 m. Comparable highriders of the HLC series are limited to 6 m. Due to the steerable front axle, even the longest DSH is still quite manoeuvrable.

Our DSH series is available in a lot of different versions: with and without side panels (height: 35 cm), as a vehicle transporter (chamfered rear with side panels 10 cm high), with canvas top and aluminium support and, last but not least, as a box van (cf. below). We also produce individualized trailers according to costumer specifications. The mainly bolted chassis makes for an ideal combination of solid strength and high payload.

One final remark: when you go into reverse drawbar trailers react differently than trailers with live axles in the middle. When, while going into reverse, you turn your steering wheel to the left your standard high or lowrider will turn to the right and vice versa. Drawbar trailers, however, always mirror the mouvement of the steering wheel, i.e. you turn it to the right, the trailer reverses to the right. If you are not familiar with drawbar trailers it might take some time to get used to this. Therefore, we recommand you ask a wm meyer® dealer or a driving school for further instructions. You should also practice a bit in an empty car park.
